Skipper of pleasure boats (PER)
The Recreational Boat Skipper (PER) license is essential for those who want to take their passion for sailing to the next level. With this license, you can skipper recreational boats up to 15 meters in length and sail up to 12 nautical miles from the coast, with the possibility of extending these privileges through additional training.
Attributions of Title PER
With the PER degree, you will be able to:
- Govern boats up to 15 meters in length.
- Sail up to 12 nautical miles from the coast.
- Sail between islands within the Balearic and Canary archipelago.
- Drive jet skis without power limit.
- Expand the powers up to 24 meters in length and navigation between the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands through an additional 24-hour practice.
Requirements to obtain the title
To obtain the PER title with Taboga, you need to meet the following requirements:
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Theoretical-practical course: Complete a course that includes theory and mandatory practices.
- Theoretical exam: Pass the official exam that covers navigation, safety, meteorology and maritime legislation.
- Navigation practices: Carry out 16 hours of navigation and safety practices.
- Radio practices: Complete 12 hours of short-range radio operator practices.
- Medical certificate: Similar to that required for a driver's license.
Course content
Theoretical Part
- Navigation: Cartography, use of the compass, and route planning.
- Safety at sea: Emergency procedures and use of safety equipment.
- Meteorology: Interpretation of meteorological reports and their application in navigation.
- Maritime legislation: Navigation rules and regulations.
Practical part
- Navigation and Safety: 16 hours of practice on board a boat.
- Short-range radio operator: 12 hours of radio communications training.
